The Order of Buddhist Contemplatives
Portland Buddhist Priory is affiliated with the Order of Buddhist Contemplatives. The OBC is dedicated to the practice of Serene Reflection Meditation, the Soto Zen tradition, also known as Ts'ao-Tung Ch'an in China.The Order was incorporated in 1983 by Rev. Master Jiyu-Kennett to serve as the international umbrella organization for the monasteries, priories (local temples), and meditation groups led by priests and lay ministers of our Order. The Head of the Order is Reverend Master Haryo Young.

Shasta Abbey Buddhist Monastery
Shasta Abbey is located near the city of Mount Shasta, in Northern California. It has been a North American training monastery for the Order of Buddhist Contemplatives monastics for over forty years. Currently about twenty five monks are resident trainees in the monastery. Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey
Throssel Hole is an OBC training monastery located in the north of England, about an hour's drive southwest of Newcastle. For over thirty-five years this monastic community has offered retreats and other events for those interested in Serene Reflection Meditation (Soto Zen) in Great Britain and beyond.
